Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed Ghazi al-Jalali said he's staying in the country and ready to cooperate with any leadership that the people choose.
He said this on Sunday, December 8, in a video message, published on Jalali's Facebook page. the Associated Press reports.
He said he would continue to perform his duties and would go to the office in the morning for further work. The politician stressed the government's readiness to "extend its hand" to opposition forces to form an interim government.
"This country can be a normal country that builds good relations with its neighbors and the world... but this issue depends on any leadership elected by the Syrian people. We are ready to cooperate and offer all possible conveniences," the Prime Minister said.
The head of the Syrian government called for not damaging state property. He neither confirmed nor denied information about President Bashar al-Assad's flight from the country.
On November 27, 2024, Syrian opposition groups led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) launched a large-scale offensive in the Aleppo province in northwestern Syria.
Within a few days, opposition groups established control over a dozen settlements. Later, they captured Aleppo, one of the country's largest cities.
Opposition groups continue their offensive in the southern direction. The day before, it became known that the city of Hama had come under their control, after which they continued their movement in the southern direction.
