American Abrams tanks transferred to Ukraine after the full-scale russian invasion were undermanned.
The current U.S. President's National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stated this, speaking at a defense forum in California.
Sullivan also emphasized that the Abrams tanks were not the most useful equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in combat operations. This assessment, the U.S. President's Advisor noted, coincides with the assessment of the American military.
"These Abrams tanks are undermanned, because this is not a very useful peace of equipment for them to fight," Sullivan said.
Sullivan also said about the transfer of ATACMS missiles to Ukraine and the permission to strike deep into russia, that "this is not a panacea for this war" and is just another opportunity for Ukrainian forces.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in April 2024 it became known that the Ukrainian military was withdrawing Abrams tanks from the battlefield due to the threat of drones that prevent the vehicles from being used for their intended purpose.
We also wrote that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had not used Abrams tanks for a long time because they needed to be equipped with additional protection against FPV drones.
