From May to October 2024, the Defense Intelligence operation to liberate the forest massif in the Lyptsi area in the north of the Kharkiv Region lasted, which forced the russians to abandon the idea of breaking through to Kharkiv. The active phase took place according to the "salami tactics".
The details of the operation were reported by the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
"Knockout the enemy from positions by the efforts of the active operations units of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kraken, Artan, the International Legion, the Legion Freedom of Russia together with the fighters of the National Guard and the Armed Forces of Ukraine forced the russians to abandon the idea of breaking through to Kharkiv and shelling the city with cannon artillery," the report says.
It is indicated that the active phase of the operation took place according to the "salami tactics" - the advanced detachments of Artan and Kraken captured the first positions of the russians and gained foothold there. After that, the fighters of the International Legion, as well as the Legion Freedom of Russia, brought their comrades from the Khartia brigade to these positions, and the Defense Intelligence’s shock fists again moved forward.
"The assaults and clearing of some areas lasted an average of three to four days. Then it took about three days to pull up forces, organize logistics and determine the next points at which we would strike. We reconnoitered the situation, understood how many forces and means we needed to knock out the enemy, and then again advanced for several days," said the Defense Intelligence special forces officer of the Ministry of Defense.
Recall that in May, russian occupation troops became more active in the area of the settlement of Lyptsi in the north of the Kharkiv Region.
