The russian occupation troops are trying to gain a foothold in the island zone near Kherson. The occupiers are carrying out assaults in this Axis.
This was reported by the spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces Vladyslav Voloshyn in a comment to Suspilne.
According to him, during the assaults, the enemy is trying to seize a certain bridgehead in order to draw as many forces and means of Ukrainian fighters there as possible. However, all these assaults were unsuccessful.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, the russian military is currently training assault groups specialized in crossing water obstacles. The training is taking place at training grounds located in the temporarily occupied territories of the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions.
To practice tactics, boats that are part of the so-called Dnieper Flotilla are being used. Part of this unit was moved to the Tendrivska and Kinburns Spits in early autumn. During the exercises, the russians practice crossing landing groups and forcing water obstacles with small infantry units.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the morning of December 1, the russians attacked public transport in Kherson with an UAV. Three people were killed, seven more were hospitalized.
It was also reported that seven collaborators, who cooperated with the russians during the occupation of the region, were detained on the right bank of the Kherson Region.
