The National Guard of Ukraine has acquired the status of an "observer" of the European Gendarmerie Force.

The corresponding Declaration was signed during a meeting of the High-Level Interdepartmental Committee of the European Gendarmerie Force (EUROGENDFOR), Ukraine was represented by a delegation of the National Guard headed by Commander Oleksandr Pivnenko.
"The National Guard of Ukraine has integrated into the European community of law enforcement units with military status in order to implement the state's strategic course towards full membership in the EU and NATO," the message says.
It is noted that the "observer" status of the European Gendarmerie Forces opens up the opportunity to participate in EUROGENDFOR missions, exercises, exchange of experience, this will allow studying and implementing European practices, standards for ensuring public safety and order, combating crime, terrorist threats, as well as implementing international technical assistance projects, and participating in international events.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in October 2017, the National Guard received the status of a full member of the Association of European and Mediterranean Gendarmeries and Law Enforcement Forces with Military Status (FIEP).
In 2021, the National Guard of Ukraine and the Gendarmerie of Romania conducted joint practical exercises on psychological support.
