Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal proposes to the Verkhovna Rada to appoint the Chairman of the Board of the Naftogaz of Ukraine National Joint-Stock Company Oleksii Chernyshov as Minister of the new Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine.
Member of Parliament from the Servant of the People faction Oleksandr Kachura announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Oleksii Chernyshov has been proposed by the Prime Minister for the position of Minister in the new Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine. In addition, he will also become Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine," he said.
Verkhovna Rada Member from the European Solidarity faction Oleksii Honcharenko also reported on the Telegram channel that he has information that the pro-government Servant of the People faction proposes to appoint Oleksii Chernyshov as Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of National Unity of Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 19, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, while presenting the Resilience Plan in the Verkhovna Rada, announced the creation of the Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine to strengthen policy towards Ukrainians abroad.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada Member from the European Solidarity faction Oleksii Honcharenko reported that the Verkhovna Rada Member from the Batkivshchyna All-Ukrainian Association faction Olena Shkrum was resigning her mandate and was going to head the new Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine, but then he reported that Shkrum was supposedly planned to be appointed Deputy of the Minister of Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba.
The Cabinet of Ministers appointed Chernyshov to the position of Head of the Naftogaz of Ukraine National Joint-Stock Company in November 2022. On November 3, 2022, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Chernyshov from the position of Minister of Communities and Territories Development, which he had held since March 2020. Chernyshov previously also held the position of Head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration.
