United States has nothing to do with events in Syria - White House

White House National Security Council spokesman Sean Savett has said that the United States is not involved in the events in Syria, and is closely monitoring the situation. In addition, he noted that the United States will continue to fully protect and secure American personnel and U.S. military positions are important so that "ISIS can never again resurge in Syria".

This is indicated in a statement on the White House website.

Thus, according to the spokesman, the United States is closely monitoring the situation in Syria and has been in contact with regional capitals for the past 48 hours. Savett said that the opposition offensive is connected with the continued refusal of the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to participate in the political process envisaged by UN Security Council Resolution 2254, as well as with its reliance on russia and Iran.

"At the same time, the United States has nothing to do with this offensive, which is led by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a designated terrorist organization. The United States, together with its partners and allies, urge de-escalation, protection of civilians and minority groups, and a serious and credible political process that can end this civil war once and for all with a political settlement consistent with UNSCR 2254," the statement said.

The spokesman added that the United States will continue to fully protect and secure American personnel and U.S. military positions, which "remain essential to ensuring that ISIS can never again resurge in Syria."

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Syrian National Army (SNA), which is in opposition to the current regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria, has launched a major offensive against government forces in the Aleppo province in the north of the country.
