They fire 187-pound shells at distance of 25 miles. What is known about rocket launchers DPRK transferred to russia

The russian occupation army probably received from North Korea M1989 self-propelled artillery mounts and M1991 rocket launchers, capable of launching 187-pound shells at a distance of 25 miles.

Forbes columnist David Axe has written this.

He recalled that the day before, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andrii Kovalenko reported that, according to Ukrainian intelligence, russia received from North Korea M1991 and M1991 installations.

According to Axe, in almost three years since the start of the full-scale invasion, the russian army has lost at least 400 multiple launch rocket systems.

The russians have been able to retrieve a number of old launchers from long-term storage, but even that hasn’t helped them rebuild enough to replace battlefield losses and equip new units. They’re also running out of missiles.

Ammunition from North Korea is more important to russia, but even more important are North Korean artillery and rocket launchers.

The M1989 self-propelled launchers fire 100-pound, 170-millimeter shells at least 25 miles away.

Axe noted that in early November, photos of the tracked howitzers on a train trundling through russia were posted online.

As for the M1991, these launchers would be a powerful addition to russia’s battered missile corps. Firing 240-millimeter missiles weighing 187 pounds at a distance of almost 37 miles, they surpass almost all artillery systems in service with Ukraine. The exception is the American M142 HIMARS MLRS.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 27, the U.S. representative in the UN Robert Wood said that, according to information in Washington's possession, North Korea is preparing to transfer a new batch of ballistic missiles to the russian federation.

Earlier, Reuters reported that North Korea is expanding a plant that produces KN-23 ballistic missiles.
