Ukraine proposes NATO countries to invite it to Alliance during upcoming meeting in Brussels - media

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha proposes that NATO member states make a decision on Ukraine's admission to the Alliance during the meeting in Brussels, which is scheduled to take place on December 3-4.

Reuters reported this with reference to Sybiha's letter, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"An invitation would be the right response to Russia's constant escalation of the war it has unleashed, the latest demonstration of which is the involvement of tens of thousands of North Korean troops and the use of Ukraine as a testing ground for new weapons," the publication quotes the Ukrainian diplomat as saying.

At the same time, foreign media outlets note that the Alliance currently does not have unanimous consent to invite Ukraine to the Alliance, and for such an invitation to be granted, the permission of all 32 member states is required.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, once again spoke out against Ukraine's accession to NATO and stated that he will oppose the country's admission to the Alliance as long as he is the Slovak Prime Minister. At the same time, he supported Ukraine's accession to the EU.

Ukraine wants to reach an agreement with Hungary so that it does not block Ukraine's invitation to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
