The President of Ukraine has signed a law on changes in taxation, which significantly affects the IT industry. From December 1, 2024, the military duty will increase for employees and sole proprietors - from 1.5% to 5%. For sole proprietors, the total tax burden will increase to 23%. For example, a developer with a monthly income of USD 2,500 will pay almost UAH 24,000 in taxes, Dou.ua reports.
Sole proprietors of the third group will additionally pay 1% of the military duty. From the same income of USD 2,500, they will pay about UAH 6,200 in taxes.
Gig contractors will also feel the changes - their tax burden will increase to 10%.
According to the forecasts of experts with whom the publication spoke, such changes may negatively affect business activity and force some specialists to look for alternative forms of employment.
The government expects to receive an additional UAH 126.7 billion to the state budget in 2025.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law on increasing taxes.
