GRU agents, preparing caches for russian sabotage groups, neutralized in Kharkiv

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) neutralized an agent group of the russian military intelligence (GRU) in Kharkiv. The enemy agents were setting up caches with money and combat grenades on the outskirts of the city. The attackers were thus supposed to create a "stock" for other agents and saboteurs of the aggressor country of the russian federation for subversive activities in the region.

This is stated in the SSU report.

Thus, on the instructions of the GRU, the attackers made caches mainly in forest plantations, and then sent the coordinates of the caches to their russian curator by messenger.

In addition, the agents collected intelligence on the bases of the Defense Forces. To do this, they bypassed the territory of Kharkiv and the surrounding area, where they conducted additional reconnaissance based on the coordinates received from the occupiers.

According to the SSU, the spy group included two former employees of the disbanded Berkut special militia unit and the wife of one of them - all residents of Kharkiv.

The intruders came into the aggressor's field of vision through a former Berkut officer, who fled to the russian federation before the start of the full-scale war and began working for the occupiers.

SSU counterintelligence exposed the spy group, documented its crimes and detained all three of its members in Kharkiv.

During the searches, mobile phones with evidence of cooperation with the russian GRU, as well as RGD-5 combat grenades, were seized from them.

  • Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal handling of ammunition and explosives).

The perpetrators are in custody. They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, russian agents, who detonated an explosive device near the district police department, were detained in Zhytomyr.
