Ukraine receives USD 4.8 billion from World Bank - Shmyhal

Ukraine received USD 4.8 billion from the World Bank within the framework of the project "Public Expenditures for Administrative Capacity Endurance in Ukraine" (PEACE in Ukraine).

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Ukraine received USD 4.8 billion from the World Bank within the framework of the PEACE project. This is the largest investment project in the history of the bank, launched to support our state in implementing reforms, the social and educational spheres, the healthcare sector, agricultural producers, as well as reconstruction projects," he said.

Shmyhal noted that in total, almost USD 50 billion was attracted through the World Bank mechanisms during the full-scale war.

He expressed gratitude to the United States and development partners that finance assistance within the framework of the PEACE project, and to the World Bank for its constant involvement and active support for initiatives that strengthen Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on November 22, Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko and World Bank Eastern Europe Operations Manager Kevin Tomlinson signed a loan agreement under the PEACE in Ukraine project. The agreement provides for USD 4.8 billion from the United States and other development partners.

The PEACE in Ukraine project is the World Bank's key financial instrument for Ukraine, which allows international donors to join forces to provide timely and predictable financial support.
