The Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has published photos of fragments of North Korean missiles that the aggressor state russia used to strike Ukraine, on which foreign components are visible.
This is stated on the website of the Defense Intelligence.
"The aggressor state Russia received more than 100 such missiles from the DPRK. The enemy used these weapons for the first time in the war against Ukraine at the end of 2023. Together with the missiles, Pyongyang then sent its military specialists to Russia, who serviced the launchers and actually participated in war crimes against Ukraine," the report says.
The Defense Intelligence emphasized that Ukrainian civilians have repeatedly become victims of KN-23/KN-24 strikes, both in front-line communities and in settlements remote from the line of combat contact.
In particular, on January 2, 2024, four people were killed as a result of a North Korean missile hitting a Kyiv high-rise building. On August 11, 2024, a four-year-old boy and his father were killed in the Kyiv Region by fragments of a KN-23/KN-24, and three more citizens were injured.
"The KN-23/KN-24 missile used by Russia against Ukraine contained foreign components manufactured by companies from five countries - the People's Republic of China, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. At least one of them - a voltage converter marked by the British manufacturer XP Power - was manufactured in February 2023, after the start of the full-scale invasion," the Defense Intelligence reported.
The Defense Intelligence notes that in order to obtain technology for their weapons programs, the russian federation and its allies use common schemes to circumvent international sanctions, which requires an appropriate response, in particular, strengthening export control mechanisms.
Earlier, the War&Sanctions portal published a list of components and details found in KN-23/KN-24 missiles, manufactured by 19 companies from seven countries - the U.S., China, Japan, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, CNN previously stated that the North Korean KN-23/24 missiles, with which the aggressor state russia is striking Ukraine, contain components from nine Western companies - we are talking about the most important electronics. These are, among others, companies located in the U.S., the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
