President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that russian leader vladimir putin has set a task to expel Ukrainian forces from the Kursk Oblast by January 20, when the inauguration of the newly elected US President Donald Trump is to take place.
This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the 3rd International Grain from Ukraine Conference on Saturday, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"For putin, the most important thing is to expel us from the Kursk Oblast. All these stories, all these indicators, strikes with new missiles, all this is not just like that. He set this task. I am sure that he wants to expel us by January 20. It is very important for him to demonstrate that he controls the situation. He does not control the situation," the Head of Ukraine emphasized.
According to the President, "The Kursk operation is not a toy," and it was able to show that putin is not able to fully defend the russian federation. At the same time, Zelenskyy reported that the most difficult situation on the front is in the Donetsk Region, in eastern Ukraine.
"He (putin - ed.) wants to show that he has fulfilled, as he said, the task - he occupies the entire Donbas, and he needs to oust us from the Kursk Axis. He has these two tasks," Zelenskyy noted.
He added that russia has never had such huge losses as in the Kursk Axis.
"We have one of the interceptions in the Kursk Axis. The fact that he is most likely conveying personal requests to his command, that "the fate of the SVO [Special Military Operation, as they call in russia war in Ukraine - ed.] rests on the Kursk operation," said President Zelenskyy, adding that russia only knows how to intimidate, and it is not as strong as it seems.
