Rada asks parliaments and governments to arrest putin and hand him over to international justice

The Verkhovna Rada has appealed to the international community in connection with the 1,000th day since the start of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

This was reported by Yaroslav Zhelezniak, MP from the Holos faction, on his Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

A total of 324 MPs voted for draft resolution No. 12196.

According to it, the Verkhovna Rada calls on parliaments and governments of foreign states, international organizations and their interparliamentary assemblies:

ADVERTISING
  • to unite in the pursuit of building a just international legal order and restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine, establishing peace and security in Europe and the world;
  • to increase support for Ukraine and increase pressure on the russian federation as an aggressor state, using all possible military, political, diplomatic and economic mechanisms, in order to stop the russian federation’s violations of the generally recognized principles and norms of international law and to fulfill the requirements of the international community, in particular the de-occupation and restoration of Ukraine’s state sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders;
  • to promote the implementation of the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for vladimir putin, and at the earliest opportunity to detain and transfer the russian dictator to international justice;
  • to demand that the russian federation implement the IAEA General Conference resolution of September 20, 2024 “Nuclear Safety, Security and Safeguards in Ukraine”, which, in particular, calls for the immediate withdrawal of russian military and other personnel from the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and confirms that Ukrainian nuclear power plants and facilities must operate safely and reliably under the full sovereign control of the Ukrainian authorities;
  • support Ukraine's consent to use Western-made long-range weapons to strike all legitimate military targets on the territory of the russian federation, from which Ukrainian military personnel, civilians, and critical infrastructure are attacked.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the European Parliament on Thursday, September 19, adopted a resolution calling on European Union countries to allow Ukraine to use the weapons transferred to it to strike deep into russian territory.
