Zelenskyy reviews construction of fortifications on Pokrovsk axis

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reviewed the process of building fortifications on the Pokrovsk axis in the Donetsk Region.

Zelenskyy announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Donetsk Region. Construction of fortifications and a meeting on issues of life support for the region. Safety is a priority. Today I got acquainted with the progress of the construction of defense structures. Most of what is planned has already been completed. I thank everyone who is involved in this important work," he said.

According to a message from the President's Office, Zelenskyy familiarized himself with the process of erecting fortifications on the Pokrovsk axis, where most of the planned 600 facilities have already been installed.

In Kramatorsk, the President held a meeting with the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin, and the commander of the Luhansk Operational-Tactical Group, Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi.

Drapatyi reported on the situation at key areas of the front, the use of various types of tactical-level drones and EW devices.

The President also listened to a report on the construction of fortifications and mine barriers to strengthen the defense of the region.

The head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration noted that, in addition to military engineering units, workers from various regions of Ukraine and from Ukrzaliznytsia are also involved in the execution of works.

Separately, Filashkin reported on the socio-economic situation in the region, as well as the evacuation of children from certain areas.

According to him, about 324,000 people live in the Ukrainian-controlled territory of the Donetsk Region, and more than 318,000 Ukrainians, including 37,000 children, were displaced during the mandatory evacuation.

In addition, the course of the heating season was discussed during the meeting.

It is noted that in the Donetsk Region, 86% of the boiler plants that were planned to operate have been launched.

There is heat in most multi-apartment buildings, healthcare and educational institutions.

At the same time, it is impossible to start the heating season in the Pokrovsk city territorial community for residents of multi-apartment buildings.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy visited Pokrovsk in the Donetsk Region on Monday.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that on November 17, 149 combat clashes took place at the front, most of them on the Kurakhove (42 clashes) and Pokrovsk (32 clashes) axes.
