Japan has allocated USD 3 billion to Ukraine as part of the G7 initiative for a USD 50 billion loan. This amount will be repaid from the revenues from the frozen assets of the russian federation.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this on his Telegram channel.
In particular, today the head of the Ukrainian state met with the new head of the Foreign Ministry of Japan, Takeshi Iwaya. Zelenskyy emphasized that it is important that the first visit of a Japanese diplomat to another country immediately after the appointment of a new government was to us.
"Thank you for consistently supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as for significant financial and humanitarian assistance from Japan, in particular for the transfer of a new package of aid documents to our energy sector," Zelenskyy wrote.
He also informed and thanked Japan for allocating USD 3 billion as part of the G7 decision on a USD 50 billion loan.

In addition, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Takeshi Iwaya, met with the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal. After the meeting, the head of the Ukrainian government announced that Ukraine and Japan are strengthening cooperation in the field of information security. The parties signed the relevant agreement.
Denys Shmyhal also discussed the prospects of Ukrainian-Japanese cooperation with Takeshi Iwaya. He added that Japan is a leader among leaders in supporting Ukraine. In particular, the total amount of assistance has already reached USD 12.1 billion.
"The support of the energy sector is especially important for us. We thank you for the transferred energy equipment and look forward to further assistance. Another key area of cooperation is humanitarian demining. I thanked you for the demining equipment and machines, as well as the funded training of emergency services specialists. We also discussed strengthening sanctions against the aggressor," said the head of the Cabinet of Ministers.
In addition, Takeshi Iwaya assured that Japan will do everything to restore Ukraine through the support of the public and private sectors.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, this morning Western mass media wrote that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Takeshi Iwaya, made an unannounced visit to Ukraine.
