U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has proposed American TV presenter and former military officer Pete Hegseth as the head of the Pentagon.
Trump announced this on his Truth Social network on Tuesday, November 12.
Trump thinks Hegseth is "tough and smart" and believes America should come first.
"Pete has spent his entire life as a Warrior for the Troops, and for the Country,” Trump said in a Tuesday statement. “Pete is tough, smart and a true believer in America First. With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are on notice – Our Military will be Great Again, and America will Never Back Down," wrote Trump.
The 44-year-old TV presenter served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and has been working for the Fox News channel for the past eight years. Hegseth is a longtime Trump supporter and holds conservative views. His opinion about Ukraine remains unknown.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the ABC News channel, citing its own sources, reported that Elon Musk influences personnel decisions and the formation of the administration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, Trump appointed businessman Elon Musk, who supported him during the election campaign, to head the new Department of Government Efficiency.
