After the U.S. Congress approved additional funding for Ukraine in April, the country delivered 83% of the promised ammunition, 67% of the promised air defense equipment and 60% of the fire's capabilities.
Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder reported this.
Thus, according to him, since the adoption of additional funding, the United States has removed equipment worth almost USD 3.7 billion from the warehouses of the Department of Defense “across 12 PDA drawdowns that were announced between late April through mid-October".
"Between the passage of the supplemental and the middle of last month, we've delivered to Ukraine, 83 percent of the critical munitions that we've committed from stock, including a 155 millimeter artillery rounds, GMLRs, Patriot, NASAMS, missiles and more.
We've also delivered 67 percent of other critical air defense commitments including Stingers and Hawk missiles and we've delivered 60 percent of the fire's capabilities we have committed including small diameter bombs and 105 millimeter ammunition," Ryder said.
The spokesman further clarified that if it is something that cannot be delivered immediately because it needs repairs, the U.S. repairs the item as soon as possible and ships it immediately afterwards.
According to him, all this aid is hundreds of thousands of artillery shells, thousands of armored vehicles, thousands of units of ammunition for HIMARS and anti-tank weapons, dozens of artillery systems, significant air defense equipment, including a Patriot battery, hundreds of interceptors and dozens of other systems.
"And together with our allies and partners, the deliveries of the strategic air defense system we committed to providing at the NATO summit are nearly completed," he informed.
A Pentagon spokesman concluded that the U.S. has a total of USD 7.1 billion in the program – which includes USD 4.3 billion for fiscal year 2024, plus USD 2.8 billion that has been returned. In addition, USD 2.2 – USD 2.21 billion remains under the USAI program.
"And so, as was highlighted earlier in this year, we are going to continue to rush aid and use the funds that we have to ensure that Ukraine gets what it needs in order to deter and fight against Russian aggression. So, we just recently announced a PDA and I'm confident that you will continue to see those coming out at a steady clip," he summarized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden plans to transfer the remaining USD 6 billion in security aid to Ukraine before the inauguration of Donald Trump.
