Several points from the Victory Plan, which was previously published by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, were added in order to interest Donald Trump.
The American publication the Financial Times writes about it.
According to the publication's sources, the idea of adding items that would appeal to Donald Trump to the Victory Plan paid off. During a meeting with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in New York in September, Trump expressed interest in these two points of the Victory Plan, which allowed to continue the conversation about the implementation of the strategy proposed by the Ukrainian side.
At the same time, the FT's sources emphasize that Ukraine's allies in Europe and the US, including influential representatives of the Republican Party, have been providing advice on how best to formulate proposals to encourage Trump to continue cooperation with Kyiv, rather than end it.
As for the points that interested the next US President, one of them involves the replacement of part of the American military contingent based in Europe with the Ukrainian military. This will allow the US to significantly reduce the cost of maintaining its own army abroad.
The second, according to sources, was generally developed by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who is a Trump ally. According to this clause, Ukraine offers to share critical natural resources with allies as an option to pay off debts accumulated during the war.
It is noted that Donald Trump was "interested" in these two points of the Victory Plan.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Donald Trump on his election as US President, and called his election victory "impressive".
