US President-elect Donald Trump spoke by phone with russian dictator vladimir putin on Thursday, November 7, marking the first phone conversation between the two since Trump won the presidential election.

This was reported by the American newspaper The Washington Post on Sunday, November 10.

"During the telephone conversation that Trump took from his resort in Florida, he advised the russian president not to escalate the war in Ukraine and reminded him of Washington's significant military presence in Europe," WP writes, referring to a person familiar with the details of the conversation.

The newspaper notes that Trump expressed interest in further talks with putin to discuss "the earliest possible resolution of the war in Ukraine," and also touched on territorial issues. In addition, the topic of conversation was the goal of peace on the European continent. WP emphasized that this conversation was not previously reported, but that Ukraine was informed about the call to putin and did not object to it.
