Former U.S. presidential candidate Nikki Haley and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will not join the new administration of Donald Trump.
Reuters writes about it.
Trump has already thanked them for their work and service to the country, but did not say about the new positions.
Nikki Haley previously served as the U.S. ambassador during Trump's first term. She both supported and criticized him when she opposed him in the party primaries. She ended her presidential campaign in March 2024. She has repeatedly stated that supporting Ukraine is in the interests of the United States.
Mike Pompeo was the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency and the U.S. Secretary of State under Trump. He is also known for his support of Ukraine, and also advocated Ukraine's immediate accession to NATO, so that the main burden of the war would be borne by the EU, and the reconstruction of Kyiv should be carried out at the expense of russian reparations.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Marco Rubio, Bill Hagerty, Robert O'Brien and Richard Grenell were named as the candidates for the post of the U.S. Secretary of State.
Previously, Trump said that if he wins the election, he wants to create a commission to review the effectiveness of the government and appoint billionaire Elon Musk as its head.
