Major General Marchenko resigns from army

Major General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmytro Marchenko, who at the beginning of the full-scale invasion successfully managed the defense of Mykolaiv, announced his dismissal from military service due to his health.

He wrote about this on his Facebook page, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Marchenko published a photo of him lying under the I.V. in a hospital.

"Reconnaissance in the occupied Crimea, the withdrawal of 75 comrades from the encirclement in the Izvaryne cauldron, the Donetsk airport, tens of thousands of kilometers along the endless steppes of Donbas, in times when few understood where were their people and where was the enemy. Hard work on reforming the material supply and introducing a new food system, development and struggle for new dry rations in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Fabricated criminal cases and pre-trial detention centers. Mykolaiv Region and Kherson Region... a long difficult path that transformed me at every stage and made me who I am," the general wrote.

He noted that leaving the service was the most difficult decision he made in his life.

The general is currently undergoing treatment.

"Even the indomitable sometimes need to be patched up a little to keep them afloat. After all, service in the army always requires sacrificing health. And without timely recovery, everything can become useless," he added.

Marchenko announced that he will not stop in the fight for Ukraine's victory and that he launched the Marchenko Foundation.

On October 29, general Marchenko stated on live air that the front in the Donbas "had collapsed".

"We all know, I won't reveal a military secret if I say that our front has collapsed. Unfortunately, the orcs have already entered Selydove and already get entrenched there. I think that in the near future they will circle around it and capture it completely, no matter what they have a tactical exit to Pokrovsk. This is very bad for us," said the general.

According to the general, the reason is the lack of ammunition, weapons and people, as well as the imbalance of management.

As the Ukrainian News agency reported, earlier President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a shift in the supply of military aid to the front from partners.
