Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets has met with russian Commissioner for Human Rights Tatyana Moskalkova on the territory of the Republic of Belarus to resolve humanitarian issues.
Lubinets announced this on his Telegram channel on Friday, November 8.
The Ombudsman noted that the meeting with the russian side was held to resolve humanitarian issues, return Ukrainians home, and obtain information about Ukrainians in the aggressor country of russia. The meeting was facilitated by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Belarusian side, Lubinets emphasized.
The Ombudsman summed up the main results of the meeting:
- repatriation of bodies of the fallen soldiers;
- family reunification: a 91-year-old woman met her son;
- exchange of lists of prisoners of war visited by both sides (Ukraine — russian prisoners of war in our country, russian federation — Ukrainian prisoners of war on its territory);
- exchange of letters. Including the new format: transmission of letters from Ukrainian relatives to Ukrainian prisoners of war in the russian federation.
