President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will not sign a high-profile parliamentary bill on fines for storing firewood.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this during a government meeting in Odesa, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"There are no restrictions on the collection of firewood for people and there will not be! The high-profile parliamentary bill on fines for storing firewood will not be signed by the President of Ukraine. Moreover, the state and the government will do everything possible to support Ukrainians who collect firewood to heat their own houses, their homes in winter," he declared.
Shmyhal noted that the government has a corresponding support program for this, which it implements together with partners.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada introduced criminal liability for storing wood without documents.
Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement, MP from the Servant of the People faction Maksym Pavliuk assured that his law on the introduction of criminal liability for storing wood without documents will not affect ordinary citizens.
