Verkhovna Rada First Deputy Chair Kornienko asks Trump to do his best to end war to re-elect Rada

The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Oleksandr Kornienko, has asked the winner of the U.S. presidential election, Donald Trump, to do his best to end the war for the re-election of the Ukrainian parliament.

He said this during the telecast "U.S. Election and the Future of Ukraine" at the Kyiv School of Public Administration named after Serhii Nyzhnii, reports the correspondent of the Ukrainian News agency.

"Unfortunately, we in the Verkhovna Rada cannot change (like the Senate and Congress) like them, but we would very much like American politicians, starting with Donald Trump, the president-elect and ending with the Congress, the Senate, to do their best so that we can be re-elected. This is our request to them as from parliamentarians," he said.

Kornienko explained that in order to re-elect the Rada, the war must end, because elections cannot be held in Ukraine due to the martial law.

"Let's all work to ensure that, in accordance with the President's Plan and our broader framework, the Peace Formula, we continue to advance in strengthening our primarily defense capability in order to give a decent rebuff not only to Russia, unfortunately, we understand, but to the coalition of evil," he added.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Donald Trump, elected as the 47th president of the United States, made a statement regarding the ongoing wars in the world.
