Google explains publication in maps of images with location of military systems of Ukraine

Google reported that the images attached to the maps showing the location of Ukrainian military systems were taken more than a year ago and also come from publicly available sources.

This was reported by the Google press service in a comment to Economic Pravda.

"These satellite images were taken more than a year ago and come from publicly available sources - we deliberately do not publish the latest images of war zones. We take such requests very seriously and are in constant contact with Ukrainian officials," the company said.

It will be recalled that Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, announced on November 3 that Google had published images on its maps showing the location of Ukrainian military systems. Ukraine turned to the company, and, as it turns out, Google was unable to respond quickly due to the weekend.

On the same day, the Center for Countering Disinformation reported that after the public announcement, company representatives contacted and assured that they are already working on correcting the situation with pictures of the placement of military systems of Ukraine.
