Russia used 4,300 UAVs over Ukraine in August-October, Defense Forces downed 71% - General Staff

In August-October, russia used 4,300 drones over Ukraine, the Defense Forces shot down 3,063 of them, or 71%.

This was announced by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"According to the Air Force, in August, September and October 2024, russia used 4,300 Shahed-type attack UAVs and other types of UAVs imitating real Shaheds over Ukraine in August, September, and October 2024 Thanks to the coordinated combat work of the air defense forces of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, it was possible to shoot down 3,063 enemy UAVs, which is 71%," the message reads.

In addition, in the daily reports of the Air Force, the markings "lost in location", that is, disappeared from the radar, presumably due to active countermeasures by EW, or due to other reasons, appeared. From August to October 2024, there are 1,052 such drones, which is 24%.

"Thus, direct hits by enemy UAVs amount to 5%. Also, destruction or damage can be caused due to the fall of UAVs shot down by air defense," the General Staff notes.

The General Staff also notes that October became a record for the launch of attack enemy drones:

August: 818 - launched, 701 - shot down, 91 - lost in location;

September: 1,410 - launched, 1,156 - shot down, 201 - lost in location;

October: 2,072 - launched, 1,206 - shot down, 766 - lost in location.

In May, June and July 2024, 1,133 attack UAVs were launched over the territory of Ukraine, 1,055 were shot down by anti-aircraft defense, 10 were lost in location, the percentage of shooting down for May-July is about 94%.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on November 4, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the aggressor country of russia is now using 10 times more Shaheds than last fall.
