Kyiv Shevchenko University bans using Telegram

Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv banned the use of Telegram.

The university Rector Volodymyr Buhrov told Ukrainian News Agency about this.

According to him, we are talking about banning Telegram only on official devices and for official purposes.

"According to the recommendations of the National Security and Defense Council and the Ministry of Education and Science, the use of Telegram on official devices and for official purposes is prohibited," the rector said.

Previously, this was done by Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University and a number of other educational institutions.

"I emphasize - on official devices and in official needs," the rector said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukrainians called Telegram the main source of information. The National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council is working on the regulation of digital platforms. Currently, there is no talk of a complete ban on the Telegram social network. In September, the National Coordination Center for Cyber Security (NCCCS) decided to limit the use of Telegram in state authorities, military formations and critical infrastructure facilities. At the same time, the restriction on the use of Telegram does not apply to the official Telegram channels of state authorities, but is of a recommendatory nature for the government.
