Switzerland deports three criminals to Ukraine

Switzerland deported three convicted Ukrainian criminals to their country of origin - Ukraine. The State Secretariat for Migration (SEM, a division of the country's Ministry of Justice) confirmed this to the news agency Swissinfo.

The deportation of the three given persons was organized by a special flight. These three citizens of Ukraine were convicted criminals, who were initially threatened with deportation from the country.

Any additional information about these people cannot be provided for reasons of personal data protection.

As the Neue Zürcher Zeitung portal writes, the expulsion of three Ukrainian citizens was the first such action since the beginning of russia's aggression against Ukraine in February 2022. In Switzerland, it is not excluded that these people may now be called up for military service.

The SEM office claims that there is no reason to doubt the validity of the deportation of convicted criminals. According to Swiss regulations, such expulsion is legal only if the deported person is not threatened with violations of his rights and freedoms, torture or execution in his homeland.

In this context, according to the Swiss side, service in the army is not an obstacle to deportation.
