The Korean People's Army (KPA) has built new fortifications near the highways and railways leading to South Korea.
Newsweek writes about this with reference to satellite images that show the construction work of the North Korean army.
The images show trenches that have begun to be dug near infrastructure that North Korea itself has previously detonated at the site. Piles of earth and construction equipment can be seen near the trenches, indicating unfinished work.
The longest trench, which is about 150 meters long, appeared near the Dorasan station, a symbolic site connecting South Korea with the closed Kaesŏng industrial complex in North Korea.
The publication notes that actions at the border further demonstrate the growing tension in relations between the countries.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 15, North Korea blew up part of the railway and highway connecting the country with South Korea.
It will be recalled that the day before, on October 14, it became known that North Korea had put its troops on the border with South Korea on alert.
