After war, economic contacts with russia not only possible, but absolutely necessary - Kuchma

Even after the end of the war, Ukraine needs economic contacts with the aggressor country of russia.

This was stated by the second president of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma, in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

"After the war, economic contacts with russia for Ukraine are not only possible, but absolutely necessary! Otherwise, how will we receive reparations?... Under all conditions, russia will remain close to us geographically. And in the subsoil of russia, as I often say, the entire Mendeleev table will remain. So, it would seem, geography and geology call us not to deny the prospects of economic cooperation with russia. But we will never forget history, especially the most recent one. And I do not believe that russia's ideology will change, if russia itself does not change fundamentally,” he said.

He also believes that russia should go through the process of de-imperialization.

"The world can still force a nuclear state to abandon aggression against its neighbors, but it cannot force it to change its own aggressive imperial psychology if it does not want to. And without it, russia will remain a huge territory with a population that has readily allowed itself to be drugged with imperial aggression, had time to taste blood and, it seems, it liked its taste," the politician noted.

We will remind, in his interview, Kuchma also spoke about the elections. He believes that elections in 2025 are impossible if the war does not end.
