In 10 months of 2024, the Ministry of Defense together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation contracted 1.6 million unmanned aerial vehicles for UAH 114 billion.
The Ministry of Defense has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"For 10 months of 2024, the Ministry of Defense, together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, contracted 1.6 million units of UAVs of various types for a total amount of over UAH 114 billion. From this volume, suppliers have already completed orders for 1.28 million unmanned aerial vehicles for the amount of over UAH 81 billion. At the same time by the end of the year, another 366,940 units of drones are scheduled to be delivered," the message reads.
It is noted that among the supplied drones there is a wide range of models that perform various tasks on the battlefield, in particular, we are talking about deep strike drones (Deepstrike-kamikaze), FPV-kamikaze, reconnaissance copters of the DJI Mavic type, reconnaissance aircraft and winged drones, as well as attack copters and aircraft.
It is also reported that for 2025, the Ministry of Defense together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation has already contracted 155,205 units of UAVs for the amount of UAH 32.33 billion.
The contracts include drones of all major types, including deep strike and FPV-kamikaze drones, reconnaissance aircraft and copters, which will expand the technical capabilities of the Ukrainian army on the front lines.
In total, for 2024-2025, the Ministry of Defense together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation has contracted the supply of 1.8 million UAVs for the amount of almost UAH 147 billion.
At the same time, the Ministry of Defense notes that contracting in this direction is carried out separately by other components of the Defense Forces - the Ministry of Interior Affairs, the National Police, the National Guard and the Security Service of Ukraine.
Also, the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles is carried out directly by military units and forces of volunteer organizations.
The Ministry of Defense reports that the Command of the Unmanned Systems Forces also received the right to be a customer of UAVs and EW based on the results of the procurement by the Ministry of Defense and the State Special Communications Service.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, at the beginning of October, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that 1.5 million drones will be produced in Ukraine by the end of 2024.
In December 2023, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that in 2024 Ukraine would produce 1 million drones.
