Total state debt in September up 0.6% to record high USD 155.6 billion

The aggregate state (direct and guaranteed) debt of Ukraine in September compared to the previous month increased by 0.56%, or by USD 0.87 billion, to USD 155.56 billion.

This is stated in the data of the Ministry of Finance, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

State and state-guaranteed debt at the end of September amounted to UAH 6,404 billion, or USD 155.56 billion, against UAH 6,371.69 billion, or USD 154.69 billion, a month earlier.

The total amount of direct government debt as of the reporting date was UAH 6,117.02 billion (USD 148.59 billion) against UAH 6,078.87 billion (USD 147.58 billion) a month earlier.

At the same time, direct external debt increased from USD 106.78 billion to USD 106.72 billion in the month.

Direct domestic debt increased in hryvnia equivalent from UAH 1,680.44 billion to UAH 1,723.81 billion (in dollar equivalent - from USD 40.80 billion to USD 41.87 billion).

The state-guaranteed debt at the end of the reporting month amounted to UAH 286.98 billion, or USD 6.97 billion.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the total state (direct and guaranteed) debt of Ukraine for 2023 increased by 30.4% or USD 33.87 billion to a record USD 145.32 billion.

In 2022, the total national debt increased by USD 13.39 billion, or 13.66%, to USD 111.34 billion.

In 2021, the national debt increased by 8.52%, or by USD 7.69 billion, to USD 97.95 billion.

In 2020, the total national debt increased by 6.9%, from USD 84.4 billion to USD 90.3 billion.
