Preparations for putin's BRICS summit in Kazan cost russian taxpayers almost USD 258.5 million

About RUB 25 billion (almost USD 258.5 million) have been allocated from the federal and republican budgets for the preparation of facilities and infrastructure in Kazan, the city of the terrorist country of the russian federation, for the BRICS summit, the deputy prime minister of Tatarstan and the chief of staff of the cabinet of ministers Shamil Gafarov said at a briefing, RBC reports.

"This is not a complete figure," he added, explaining that money was also provided by private investors.

Specifically for the convenience of the guests of the summit, a new platform was built at the Kazan airport in just six months: work started in April, and by October 15 the facility was put into operation. This project alone cost RUB 7.7 billion.

The summit brought together in Kazan 5,255 participants from 42 delegations. In honor of the arrival of high-ranking guests, 55 trays of traditional chak-chak were prepared, each weighing about two kilograms and costing about RUB 1,500. During the three days of the summit, 300 kilograms of this treat were produced.

The president of the Miss Tatarstan public organization, Izolda Sakharova, in turn, told the Volga-Ural publication that the delegations were met by 55 models at the airport. In total, 150 girls were recruited to work at the summit. Five groups consisting of three models each were constantly on duty at the airport, and the composition of the groups periodically changed.

Among those who met, in addition to girls, male models also worked - only about 20 people. The guard of honor for the meeting of the first persons of the summit was formed from the cadets of the Kazan Red Banner Tank School.

On the route that the delegations took from the airport to their places of residence, lighting was updated, public transport stops and facades of residential buildings were repaired, the road surface was put in order, and overpasses and underground pedestrian crossings were built and modernized. In addition, a new children's park "Elmay" was created on the embankment of Kazanka, Gafarov said.

For the summit, two buildings of the new five-star Millenium Palace hotel were built on the banks of Kazanka. However, they were never put into operation, and guests were not accommodated there.
