In Georgia, on Saturday, October 26, voting began in the parliamentary elections, the results of which may become decisive for the country.
News Georgia reported this.
At 8:00 a.m. local time, polling stations opened throughout the country, except for occupied Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region, and will close at 8:00 p.m.
Elections will be considered valid for any turnout.
In total, there will be a list of 18 parties on the ballots. In order to enter the parliament, the parties will need to overcome the five percent barrier.
The parliament of the new convocation is elected for the first time not by a mixed system, as before, but by a fully proportional system.
The first preliminary election results will be known approximately two hours after polling stations close, by 10:00 p.m. Tbilisi time.
First, the Central Electoral Commission will announce the data of the electronic vote count, then the ballots will be counted manually, and only the "manual" result will be considered real.
In Georgia, opposition forces and strategic partners in unison accuse the current government of changing the country's foreign policy vector and pursuing russian interests. As a result, the Georgian government received complete international isolation from both the United States and the European Union.
On the eve of the vote, the rating of the ruling Georgian Dream party fluctuates between 34-35%, which in the absence of a "majority leader" practically excludes the chances of forming a new parliamentary majority. Instead, the majority should be formed by four opposition forces.
However, the Georgian Dream does not recognize the data of authoritative sociological studies. There is a likely scenario when the Georgian Dream will announce its victory after the elections, regardless of what the actual result will be.
