The statement made public by russian dictator vladimir putin at the BRICS summit regarding the encirclement of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk Oblast is not true.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi announced this on his Facebook page, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"This is blatant misinformation that does not reflect the real situation. Ukrainian troops continue active operations in the Kursk direction, destroying the enemy's combat potential for the third month in a row. Despite the intense pressure of the enemy in this direction, the occupiers are suffering significant losses in personnel and military equipment," he said.
In particular, according to the Commander-in-Chief, from August 8 to the present, russian troops on this part of the front have lost 17,819 in personnel.
Of them, 6,662 people were irretrievably lost, 10,446 were sanitary losses, and 711 were captured.
The losses of the enemy during the same period in weapons and military equipment are: 45 tanks, 256 armored combat vehicles, 565 units of motor vehicles, 99 artillery systems, 5 multiple launch rocket systems.
Syrskyi thanked the Ukrainian soldiers for the stability, endurance and courage that they demonstrate to the primordial insidious enemy of Ukraine in all sections and directions of the front.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that on October 27-28, the first North Korean military will be deployed by russia in combat zones, and called it an obvious escalation step by the russian federation.
Regarding the Kursk operation, Zelenskyy noted that the buffer zone on russian territory protects Ukraine from russian attempts to expand the war in the east of the country and ensures significant russian losses.
The Center for Countering Disinformation reported that russia hopes that the involvement of soldiers from North Korea in the Kursk Oblast will allow the russian military to be transferred to the Pokrovsk axis.
