Ruslan Kravchenko, the prosecutor in the case of high treason against ex-president Viktor Yanukovych and the current head of the Kyiv Regional Military Civil Administration, may become the new Prosecutor General.
This was reported to the Ukrainian News Agency by sources in law enforcement agencies.
"His candidacy is being considered, as it can be a compromise figure that will be supported by the parliament," the interlocutor noted.
The candidacy of the new Prosecutor General must be reviewed by the specialized law enforcement committee of the parliament.
First Deputy Prosecutor General Oleksii Khomenko will be the acting Prosecutor General in the near future.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a National Security Council meeting on medical and social expert commissions (MSEC) and abuse of prosecutors' disabilities and declared that Kostin should bear political responsibility.
Kostin resigned amid the scandal involving the prosecutors' disability. On October 20, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he had convened a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council and expected tough decisions due to abuses at MSECs.
