Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said that the aerospace and defense company Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAS) was attacked, resulting in the death and injury of several people. His words were quoted by Associated Press and Reuters on Wednesday, October 23.
The attack took place on the outskirts of Ankara.
"Unfortunately, we have victims and wounded after the attack," Yerlikaya said.
According to the media, a group of attackers arrived at the entrance of the company in a taxi during the change of guards. At least one of the attackers detonated a bomb, and other attackers managed to enter the compound. The shooting at the site is ongoing and that some employees of the complex may have been taken hostage.
TUSAS is one of the most important defense and aviation companies in Türkiye. It is known from open sources that the company owns a modern aviation complex equipped with high-tech equipment and machinery. Under license, it manufactures F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters, CASA / IPTN CN-235 light transport and patrol aircraft, SIAI-Marchetti SF.260 trainers, Cougar AS-532 helicopters (SAR), combat search and rescue (CSAR) and service helicopters. Develops and serially produces unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), agricultural aircraft.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 1, a terrorist attack occurred in the Tel Aviv-Yafo area: two men opened fire on a crowd of civilians.
As a result of the terrorist attack, seven people were killed and another 16 were injured. Among the wounded is a Ukrainian woman.
