Zakarpattia prosecutor retires at age of 48 and receives pension

Prosecutor of Zakarpattia Anatolii Kovalchuk retired at the age of 48 and will receive a pension from 2020.

This is evidenced by his electronic declarations, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Now the head of the regional prosecutor's office is 52 years old, but he started receiving a pension at the age of 48, when he applied for a pension.

Probably, he issued a pension for years of service, or because of disability.

Over the past year, he received a pension of UAH 66,000 and a salary of almost UAH 2 million.

He worked in the Prosecutor General’s Office before his managerial position in the Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor's Office.

He started his professional activity in the prosecutor's office in 1997 as an intern at the Zhmerynka inter-district prosecutor's office of the Vinnytsia Region.

He worked in various positions, including managerial positions, in the prosecutor's offices of the Vinnytsia, Chernivtsi, Poltava, and Zhytomyr Regions. During 2015-2016, he was the prosecutor of the Rivne Region.

Since June 2021, he worked in the Prosecutor General’s Office.

He has 27 years of service, but when he issued his pension he had 23 years of service and it takes 25 years to get a service pension.

For 4 years, Kovalchuk received a pension of half a million hryvnias from the state.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council on the situation with medical and social expert commissions (MSECs) and the abuse of disability by officials, he believes that Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin should bear political responsibility for the situation in the prosecutor's offices.
