The Minister of the Armed Forces of France, Sébastien Lecornu, believes that Ukraine's partners should be present to discuss the issue of deterring the aggressor country of russia after the end of the russian-Ukrainian war.
Lecornu said this on the air of the French TV channel TF1 on October 21.
According to him, the recently presented Victory Plan of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is part of the political path to ending the war.
Lecornu believes that Ukraine's partners should take responsibility for helping Kyiv in the long term. He emphasized that it is important to raise the issue of what will happen after the end of the war already now.
"Imagine a ceasefire or a peace treaty - you will understand that the issue of deploying non-nuclear deterrence forces on the territory of Ukraine in order to be able to repel a new threat from russia is obviously an issue that needs to be addressed already now," TF1 quotes Lecornu as saying.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 16, President Zelenskyy presented the Victory Plan. It consists of five points, the implementation of which will make it possible to force russia to stop full-scale aggression.
We will remind you that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, called President Zelenskyy's Victory Plan quite realistic and feasible.
And according to the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, there was no consensus among the leaders of the European Union regarding the Victory Plan.
