During his visit to Kyiv, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced the allocation of a USD 400 million military aid package to Ukraine, which will be directed in particular to ammunition and weapons.
This is reported by Ukrinform.
"Under President Biden’s leadership, the United States remains committed to keeping up this support. And so I’m pleased to announce today a commitment of a USD 400 million presidential drawdown package to provide your forces with additional munitions, armored vehicles and anti tank weapons," Austin said.
According to the U.S. Secretary of Defense, the U.S. perfectly understands the consequences of the war for Ukraine and for the whole world.
"That is why I would like to once again convene the Ukraine Defense Contact Group. We work in a coalition consisting of more than 50 countries in order to provide security assistance to Ukraine so that Ukraine wins," he emphasized.
Austin noted that the U.S. will continue to help Ukraine.
"We will continue to provide assistance in accordance with the bilateral security agreement that you signed with President Biden. Therefore, I am glad to discuss further strengthening of our strategic partnership with you," the U.S. Secretary of Defense concluded.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the United States supports a just peace in Ukraine, but continues to study the details of the "victory plan" of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
