One of two lines powering Zaporizhzhia NPP cut off as a result of russian shelling

The occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was again almost on the verge of blackout due to shelling from the army of the aggressor country russia.

This is stated in the notification of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

Today, October 21, around noon, one of the two lines connecting the Zaporizhzhia NPP with the energy system of Ukraine was cut off as a result of shelling by the occupiers.

As of 2:00 p.m., the station was powered by only one line.

The Ministry reminded that the external power supply of the station is necessary for its safe functioning. In case of disconnection of both lines at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, a blackout will occur, which poses a threat of radiation danger.

According to Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, such a situation can be avoided only by returning the station to the control of Ukraine.

"Only the return to Ukraine of control over the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP can guarantee the safe operation of Europe's largest nuclear power plant," the Ministry's press service quotes him as saying.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 4, a car exploded in the occupied city of Enerhodar of the Zaporizhzhia Region, inside which was the "chief of security" of the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
