Tretiakova's bill on National Demographic Agency creation refused

The Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy of the Verkhovna Rada recommends that the Parliament reject the bill authored by the head of the Committee on Social Policy and Protection of Veterans' Rights Halyna Tretiakova, which proposes to create a National Demographic Agency.

The press service of the committee stated this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"The parliamentarians of Ukraine discussed the mentioned bills and recommended that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopt as a basis the project on the principles of state demographic policy, submitted by the Member of Parliament of Ukraine M. Kniazhytskyi and other parliamentarians (registration No. 11424 dated 07.22.2024) in the first reading, and reject the alternative bill under registration No. 11424-1," the message reads.

According to Tretiakova's bill, the National Demographic Agency is the central body of executive power that ensures the formation and implementation of state demographic policy.

The agency, according to the idea, will consist of the following departments: strategic planning and analysis; estimates of family income and expenses; implementation of programs and projects; regulation of migration processes; communications and public relations; administrative department.

According to the document, the maximum number of employees of the National Demographic Agency is 250 people.

Financing of the state demographic policy is proposed to be carried out at the expense of state and local budgets, grants, voluntary contributions of individuals and legal entities, as well as other sources not prohibited by the legislation of Ukraine.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada's Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy recommends that the Parliament adopt in the first reading the bill on the creation of the Ministry of Demography and Diaspora.
