Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin demands that Brazil arrest the aggressor russian president vladimir putin during his visit to the country.
He told about this in an interview with the Belgian La Libre, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
According to him, it is important to bring to justice the instigators of the invasion - the president, the prime minister, members of the so-called "troika" - and show them that they can be held accountable, despite the gaps in international law.
"The ICC has no jurisdiction in this matter, but we are working on a legal formula with about 40 countries around the world. Therefore, if Putin dares to visit the G20 meeting in Brazil, he should be arrested," Kostin is sure.
The Prosecutor General emphasized that the refusal to execute the arrest warrant strengthens russia's position, so all the hopes of Ukrainians now rest on the independence of the Brazilian judicial system.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Brazil will not arrest putin on the warrant of the International Criminal Court if he comes to the G20 summit in 2024.
