EU will extend EUMAM training mission for Ukrainian military for another 2 years – Borrell

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said that Brussels will continue the training mission of the Ukrainian military (EUMAM Ukraine) for another two years.

He said this following the results of the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, his words are quoted by RBC-Ukraine.

"We will extend the mandate of the EUMAM Mission for the next two years," Borrell said.

The head of European diplomacy emphasized that now Ukrainian military personnel are under great pressure along the entire front line, which has become larger than it was at the beginning of summer this year.

Borrell expressed hope that the Council of the EU will reach a consensus on the continuation of the mission to train Ukrainian servicemen.

The European Union Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) is a mission launched by the EU to assist Ukraine in its resistance to full-scale military aggression by russia.

It was founded on October 17, 2022. Since then, as part of the mission, servicemen of the Defense Forces of Ukraine have been training in the countries of the European Union.

The Mission coordinates work with other Ukrainian military training centers in the UK, the U.S. and Canada.
