EU approves sanctions against Iran for transfer of missiles to russia. List includes 14 individuals and legal entities

The Council of the European Union approved the introduction of sanctions against fourteen individuals and legal entities related to the transfer of drones and missiles by Iran to the aggressor country of russia.

This is stated in a press release on the website of the Council of the EU.

"This decision followed the instruction of the European Council in March 2024 that if Iran transfers ballistic missiles and related technologies to russia for use against Ukraine, the EU will be ready to respond quickly, including with new and significant restrictive measures," the message said.

European sanctions have placed seven individuals and seven legal entities responsible for the development and transfer of missiles and drones to russia in support of a full-scale war against Ukraine.

The list includes two Iranian state (Saha Airlines and Iran Air) and one private (Mahan Air) airlines. Two procurement firms Basamad Electronic Pouya Engineering and Teyf Tadbir Engineering Company were also sanctioned.

In addition, the European Union introduced sanctions against the Iran Alumina Company - Iran's only producer of aluminum oxide, which is used in the production of rocket fuel. Last on the list is the Shahid Haj Ali Movahed Research Center, a company that supports Iran's ballistic missile development program.

Restrictive measures were also imposed against Iran's deputy defense minister, officials of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), directors of Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industries and the Aerospace Industries Organization.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 11, the US Department of Defense confirmed the information of a number of mass media that russia received ballistic missiles from Iran for use in the war against Ukraine.
