President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that russian attempts to break through the Ukrainian defenses in the Kursk Oblast continue for the fifth day, and the Ukrainian military is holding on and counterattacking.
Zelenskyy announced this in the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
In particular, Zelenskyy said that at the meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander, they heard a report by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, regarding the operational situation at the front.
"Active actions are currently taking place along the entire length of the front, but the battles are particularly fierce in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove Axes. For the fifth day, the russians have been trying to break through our defenses in the Kursk Oblast. The guys are holding on and counterattacking," the President said.
The Staff also heard intelligence analysis on who exactly is helping russia wage its war of aggression against Ukraine - militarily, economically, politically, openly and covertly, and what steps Ukraine and its partners need to take to weaken these criminal alliances.
The Ministry of Defense reported on contracting for the current and next periods, in particular with the use of partner assistance, and on the investments of key partners in the Ukrainian defense industry.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, military analysts point to the activity of the russian federation in the Kursk Oblast, which they associate with attempts to dislodge the Armed Forces of Ukraine before the weather worsens.
In mid-September, Zelenskyy said that thanks to the operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk Axis, it was possible to distract a group of russians numbering 40,000 people.
