The British newspaper The Guardian reported this on Thursday, October 20, citing knowledgeable sources.

It is not the first time that russia has used mercenaries in a war against Ukraine, but if military personnel from North Korea were to participate in the aggression, it would be the first time that a foreign government would send its troops to support moscow's military operations.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 8, South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun said that North Korea is likely to send its troops to Ukraine to support russia.
On October 8, Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, reported that North Korea had already sent troops to Ukraine.
