By the end of 2024, more than 1 GW of equipment for distributed electricity generation should be delivered to Ukraine, but it will not be possible to use everything at once.
Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko told Forbes Ukraine about this, the Ukrainian News agency reportsts.
"In some cities, these installations are already standing, but they will not be able to connect them before January. This process is taking place both on the part of state-owned companies and businesses," he said.
Halushchenko noted that some private companies generate energy not only for themselves, but also give it to the state grid.
These are important projects, they must be implemented, and during the war they will help us a lot - at the very least, they will provide electricity to critical infrastructure in the event of a blackout. In recent years, the state has canceled many requirements for businesses that slowed down the development of power generation. But these simplified solutions often don't work, and we have to solve problems manually. For example, connecting to networks," he added.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on September 6, Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko announced that hundreds of MW of the planned 1 GW of new gas generation for 2024 had already been built, and 600 MW had been financed.
In June, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine intends to build 1 GW of flexible gas generation in 2024 and another 4 GW in the coming years.
